MESTRE DAS SOMBRAS

Concept
.....

Almost everyone at some point of life played with shadows. Could it be like making imaginary animals with the hands or just seeing things through normal object’s shadows. Shadow play is a powerful storytelling tool that has been used since long time ago by many different cultures. However, you always control the shadow changing the source of it , witch means, change the object or the light position. What about change the shadow itself?

This project allows people to interact with shadows and control them manipulating a magic stick. In this installation everyone is transformed into a shadow's master.

What is "Mestre das sombras"?

“Mestre das sobras” is an interactive installation where the user can manipulate shadows created by ordinary objects throught a “magic” stick. In this project you can play with the shadows and change their appearance.

How does it work?

In this installation some objects standed in front of a screen. You can move these objects as you like and once you fix them at the position you want you should pick up the “magic stick”. When you get the “magic stick” you turn on the interaction system. From this moment on you can point the stick at the shadows and transform their appearence.

It was developed during the Interactivos? Lima 2009: Magic and Technology.
