AUTRMX is an experimental video edited using MAX/MSP and a normal cutting software. This project came out from my previous work called “Authority” where I filmed a policeman (actually an actor playing a policeman) in different moods while talking a nonsense text with someone. During the movie he changes his mood between very calm and indifferent to angry and nervous. This film and also the previous installation is a metaphor of Foucault’s power theory in modern societies witch has the characteristic of not be fixed but is always moving.
"...in a society such as ours...there are manifold relations of power that permeate, characterize and constitute the social body, and these relations of power cannot themselves be established, consolidated nor implemented without the production, accumulation, circulation and functioning of a discourse."
Michel Foucault
The movie develops first with him going crazy and then calm. So the MAX/MSP starts to select some frames and display these frames in a random way. |
